✨ Making Alexa+ Feel More Human
Role: Conversation Designer / Writer
Company: Amazon (Confidential Project)
Focus: Personality design, UX writing, conversational AI

“What would it take to make a voice assistant feel less robotic and more… real?”
That’s the challenge I tackled at Amazon as part of a small, cross-functional team shaping the next generation of Alexa.
🧠What I Did
-
Trained Alexa+ to speak more like a human, not a help menu — injecting natural warmth, curiosity, and wit into her responses.
-
Designed and iterated on scripts, onboarding flows, error recovery, and even the occasional Easter egg.
-
Crafted content that felt empathetic in frustrating moments, playful when appropriate, and always clear and helpful.
-
Collaborated with VUI designers, PMs, and researchers to test and refine tone, flow, and engagement strategies.
💡 The Goal
To help Alexa+ build trust, delight, and a sense of companionship — while still being useful and efficient.

📣 What I Learned
-
Humor and empathy in voice interfaces aren’t just nice-to-haves — they shape the whole experience.
-
Writing for AI requires balancing personality with precision, and making every word earn its place.
-
Sometimes the best UX writing… doesn’t sound like UX writing at all.
